Western riding is an style of horse back riding there Human and horse cooperate in a relaxed way.
The ride style has comes from wild west in the US during 1700-1800's.
In western riding you are conscious that the horse is a flight animal and that the human is an enemy.
In western riding there are many different activities where horse and human cooperate.
History!
The riding style came from Spain in the 14th century.
expression comes from US but the riding technique and the equipment comes from Spain. When the Spanish people came and conquered north America in the 15th century they took the horse's an the riding style with them. The technique came to Us in the 17th century from Mexico. When the ranch owner discovered that human and horse could worked together like a knit and relaxed unit. Thanks to the ride style could the horse and human work a whole day without be tired. The method is used even today as a herder. The herder's work was a exhausting and monotonous.
To make it more amusing and fun the cowboys started to challenge each other. Because of that the cowboys invented different activities and started to arrange competitions. There all people can show their skills.
Rodeo was also one thing for unemployed cowboys to show their skills for get jobs. The Sport is very huge in US and growing more popular in Sweden too. There are also breeding competitions in Sweden.
